DURING THE summer of 1958 Edmund Downing, an American amateur skin diver and a descendant of one of the voyagers aboard the Sea Venture, joined the divers. On board Sea Venture were 150 persons including Sir Thomas Gates, Governor Designate of Virgina and all these were landed on the uninhabited island of Bermuda in ten months they built two vessels and sailed on to Jamestown.
